Contraceptive Access Committee

The Contraceptive Access Committee combines efforts of researchers, clinicians, public health professionals, social scientists, and funders to use evidence-based advocacy to decrease obstacles to access for desired contraceptive methods in District VII. 

Champions from each section will …  

  • Attend quarterly online meetings that focus on sharing strategies that have been successful in improving access to contraceptive options

  • Focus on removing financial and legislative obstruction to contraceptive access 

  • Focus on exploring the impact of social media on myths and misperceptions related to contraception

  • Assist in planning an annual summit

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence (DEIE) Committee

This committee works to identify inequities and barriers to inclusion with the goal of achieving a more inclusive community where every member thrives and where the perspective of every member is heard, supported, and valued.

Committee members are expected to:

  • Participate in quarterly conference calls

  • Determine key areas of focus

  • Brainstorm innovative ways to bring DEIE to District VII

  • Assist in planning DEIE activities and events at the Annual District Meeting

HPV Vaccination Committee

The goal of the HPV Vaccination committee is to improve HPV vaccine rates and prevent cervical cancer across District VII.

Committee members are expected to:

  • Participate in quarterly conference calls or meetings

  • Connect ob-gyns in their local communities to other groups who are also working to increase HPV vaccination rates in their sections

  • Assist in planning HPV Vaccination activities and events at the Annual District Meeting

Maternal Mortality Committee

Maternal mortality is increasing across the United States, making pregnancy the ninth leading cause of death for people ages 20–34. The District VII Maternal Mortality Committee works to address maternal mortality rates in District VII.

Committee members are expected to …

  • Participate in quarterly conference calls or meetings

  • Identify and share best practices occurring within the District

  • Support the continuation of Section maternal mortality review committees

  • Share information from meetings with other stakeholders within their states

  • Assist in planning maternal mortality activities and events at District VII Annual District Meetings

Physician Engagement Committee

One important aspect of ACOG’s organizational mission is supporting its members. The District VII Physician Engagement Committee is designed to engage District VII ACOG members and build communication and trust with ACOG. The District VII Physician Engagement Committee will also raise member awareness of the many benefits of ACOG membership and recruit members for involvement in ACOG both locally and nationally.
