Quality Improvement through the Multispecialty Portfolio Program

The American Board of Medical Specialties’ (ABMS’) Multispecialty Portfolio Program (MSPP) offers an alternate Continuing Certification Part IV pathway that promotes broader physician involvement in systems-level maternal safety and quality improvement efforts. The MSPP provides an option for hospitals and health care organizations to encourage and support physician and physician assistant involvement in quality improvement initiatives.

The MSPP is designed to recognize and engage physicians and physician assistants participating in ACOG or ABMS-approved quality improvement efforts across specialties. It is open to all physicians and physician assistants from any of the participating ABMS member boards. To date, 20 out of 24 ABMS medical boards participate. Eligible Quality Improvement Efforts

ACOG became an ABMS MSPP sponsor organization in October 2016. The first ACOG MSPP QI effort was the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health. Additional eligible QI efforts have and continue to be added to the ACOG portfolio.

If you are interested in participating in the ACOG MSPP through the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health or another QI effort, please email [email protected] for more information.
