Get Out the Vote with ACOG and Vot-ER
ACOG is excited to partner with Vot-ER to help get out the vote to you, our members—and to empower you to do the same in your communities.

Physicians are a critical part of their communities in all seasons, and election season is no exception. That’s why ACOG is excited to partner with Vot-ER, a nonpartisan nonprofit that focuses on civic engagement in health care, to help get out the vote to you, our members, and to empower you to do the same in your communities.
The AMA affirms that voting is a social determinant of health. A commentary in NEJM Catalyst explains that “[t]he relationship between voting and health outcomes is multifactorial: people from marginalized backgrounds are more likely to be affected by poor health, and decreased access to voting has been associated with worse health outcomes, ultimately leading to decreased representation of the interests of the marginalized and those struggling with chronic disease."
The evidence is clear: it’s critical that ob-gyns incorporate voting into their routine conversations with patients. Vot-ER user and ACOG Junior Fellow College Advisory Council Chair Allen Ghareeb, MD, shares that bringing up voting can be as easy as asking each patient, “Do you smoke? Do you drink? Do you vote?”
Vot-ER’s resources are intended to make it easier for health care professionals to begin those critical conversations with patients and others in their community and to be able to make meaningful change by connecting those individuals with specific voting resources. Explore our resources below.
Track Your Impact with a Vot-ER Badge
Vot-ER provides health care professionals with free scannable badges with QR codes that direct users to a nonpartisan voter registration platform where users can register, request a mail-in ballot, or learn more about voting. Each badge has a unique QR code, allowing Vot-ER users to track the number of voters you’ve helped.
