GoFrequently Asked Questions
-
ResidencyCAS offers a mobile-friendly, user-centric platform that streamlines the residency application process—from submitting applications and credentials to managing interviews and rank lists. This allows programs to offer applicants more holistic reviews of all components of their applications.
-
ResidencyCAS helps programs apply data science to better identify alignment with applicants, streamline staff workflows, and enhance holistic review—at no cost to programs. It also offers essential tools and support to improve the review and selection process and applicant experience. This is especially important as resources and staffing available onsite for programs are frequently limited.
-
ACOG’s work on ResidencyCAS brings tremendous value across the interview season experience for the whole of our obstetrics and gynecology medical education community. For applicants, this increased value comes from both system improvements and reduced application costs. Tools like program signaling have already lowered the average number of applications submitted. ACOG has further reduced the cost faced by applicants through a ResidencyCAS pricing model designed to align with OBGYN’s approach to signaling. See the pricing chart below.
Number of Programs Application Fee Up to 18 $99 19–30 $18 per application 31 or more $23 per application Additionally, ResidencyCAS brings tremendous value to our residency program community as it allows for meaningful holistic application review; provides a powerful, web-based experience; facilitates an application and interview season carried out on a single, user-friendly platform that is efficient, effective, and engaging; and provides all of these benefits at no cost to residency programs.

ResidencyCAS is currently in use by OBGYN and Emergency Medicine.
ResidencyCAS is structured on the centralized application service technology platforms offered by Liaison (the platform’s host company) and used by numerous health professional training and education programs, including dental education, osteopathic medical schools, physical therapy programs, pharmacy and veterinary schools, and many large-scale state systems and graduate education institutions. With over 30 years of experience, Liaison has successfully onboarded more than 40,000 programs to the platform and processes approximately 3.5 million applications annually using its centralized education service technology. -
The move to ResidencyCAS was driven by the OBGYN community’s commitment to creating a more transparent, equitable, and data-informed residency application process. Through the Right Resident, Right Program, Ready Day One initiative, funded by the AMA’s Reimagining Residency grant program, the specialty recognized an opportunity to design an application system that better supports holistic review, improves alignment between applicants and programs, and enhances the overall transition from medical school to residency.
