Celebrating 75 Years of ACOG

An ob-gyn’s work goes far beyond the exam room. Ob-gyns advocate for patients, nurture all aspects of well-being, and serve as trusted partners guiding patients through complex health decisions from adolescence through menopause and beyond.

For 75 years, ob-gyns have looked to the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG) to be a trusted guide and source of community as they fulfill this calling.

ACOG has advanced health since its founding in 1951, setting the standard for ob-gyn care and advocating for policies that advance the field and empower ob-gyns to provide patients with the care they need. In 2025, our more than 62,000 members remain committed to improving the lives of all people seeking obstetric and gynecologic care, their families, and their communities.
